i went to have a tire fixed the other day and there was this guy in his fifties studying something, i was reading. some total fucking rednecks came in talking really loud about coke vs. pepsi. retardedly loud and me and this guy look at eachother, his face said "what a bunch of fucking rednecks" then he asked me if i was reading my book for school and i said no i was just reading, and he said "you look like the type that would just read" he said his daughter had told him the book i was reading was really awesome (Calvino's Invisible Cities). he then asked me what i was going to school for, i told him art and he said " you look like the type who would go to school for art" he was studying to take a test for x ray technician something, if he passed it he would make an extra $5 an hour. he was southern and soft spoken, he said nice things about his daughters, i told him to eat carrots while he studied.
i have been thinking about this for days, what someone who "looks like the type" to study art or read looks like, i cant decide if i feel that i fit into these molds. |
